Course Introduction

00:00:00

If you are one of the many students that raved about are 220-901 course here at CBT Nuggets, get ready. Because you're in for something even greater. It's our 200-902 0 course. In this Nugget, I will just briefly explain what we're going to cover together and make sure you get the most out of this course by taking advantage of some great additional resources.

00:00:24

What exactly do we cover in this course? Well, Windows, Windows, and more Windows. Yeah, we begin-- and it is very extensive-- our coverage of Microsoft Windows. This is because Windows still rules the world. But in our other operating systems, or other OS's section, we will certainly look at things like the Mac and Linux based operating systems.

00:00:45

We'll even see what's running on phones and tablets these days. We'll go heavy into computer and network security together. And then we'll look at software troubleshooting in all its glory. And we wrap up with operational procedures-- things like how would you go about safely repairing a computer system?

00:01:03

Or even better, how would you deal with an employee that is threatening to kill you because you're in the IT department? Yes, we will examine these issues and more in operational procedures. CompTIA is great. They publish the exact exam objectives for the 901 and the 902 exam.

00:01:24

And this document, as you might guess, was my blueprint for building this course for you. And you'll see that the course Nuggets, the videos that make up this course, follow this blueprint letter for letter as we go through here. I made this document available for you in the Nugget Lab files.

00:01:42

And of course, you could also access it from CompTIA themselves. Now just a couple of awesome things I want you to look for in this course that we'll be doing together is certain Nuggets will be labeled as hands on labs. Pay attention to these Nuggets.

00:01:55

And try and get a machine that you can follow along with me on. Because these Nuggets are very, very high potential Nuggets for simulation work you'll need to do in the exam. What's a simulation? What's the exam? Well, I've got a Nugget at the very end of this course dedicated to that subject for you.

00:02:13

I'll be doing pop quizzes as we move through the material to keep you on your toes and to allow you to demonstrate your mastery of this material. And I'm also creating electronic flash cards that go along with this content so you can be quizzing yourself after class.

00:02:32

And you can really, really ensure you master this new rich vocabulary of Windows and troubleshooting and network security that we're going to go through together. The very next Nugget of this course will teach you where you get the electronic flash cards and how to install the software to use them.

00:02:50

CompTIA's A plus really is one of the most widely accepted and embraced certifications in the entire IT industry. And you're going to see why when we get through with this incredibly important-- and I hope you're going to find it very exciting and interesting-- content.

00:03:07

I sure hope this course introduction was informative for you. And I'd like to thank you for viewing.
